This last week was Construction Safety Week— This year’s focus includes five essential actions:

Plan With Precision: Every safe project starts with a solid plan. Taking time to outline each step, identify potential risks, and prepare for the unexpected helps crews stay efficient and injury-free. Precision in planning ensures that everyone knows their role, timelines are met, and work is executed with clarity and confidence. Identify High-Energy Hazards: Recognizing and addressing high-energy hazards—like electricity, heavy machinery, or elevated workspaces—is critical to preventing serious injuries. These dangers require constant awareness, proper controls, and protective equipment. Spotting and mitigating these risks early can save lives and prevent downtime. Own Your Part: Safety is everyone’s responsibility. When each team member takes ownership of their tasks, follows procedures, and speaks up about concerns, the entire job site becomes stronger and safer. Owning your part builds trust, reduces errors, and reinforces a culture where safety is a shared priority. Engage and Empower Your Team: A safe site is a connected one. Open communication, teamwork, and training empower every worker to be part of the safety solution. By encouraging participation and valuing input, teams are more likely to identify hazards, support one another, and hold each other accountable. Commit to Excellence: Excellence in construction means more than quality work—it means doing it safely, every time. Commitment to excellence shows in the details: following safety protocols, double-checking equipment, and never cutting corners. When safety is held to the same standard as craftsmanship, everyone wins.Every task, from pre-planning to punch-out, requires mindfulness, teamwork, and the courage to speak up. Safety isn’t just a checklist — it’s a shared responsibility we all carry. But even with the best planning, injuries can happen. When they do, it’s important to act fast and remember to do the following:  - Stop Work Immediately – Ensure the area is safe to prevent further injury. - Notify Your Supervisor – Report the incident right away, no matter how minor it seems. - Document the Incident – Take notes, photos, and gather witness info if applicable. - Seek Prompt Care – If the injury is not life-threatening, visit Worker Care for fast, professional treatment. - Follow Recovery Instructions – Stay in touch with your provider and employer throughout the healing process. - Communicate Changes – If your condition changes, report it quickly to ensure safe return-to-work planning.
