At Worker Care, we want to make sure your employees are getting the best care possible, which means more than just being here when they have an injury. That means helping to prevent lost-time accidents any way we can. This is why we are offering the quadrivalent flu vaccine this year, to help your employees stay strong through flu season. And if you’ve never heard of the quadrivalent flu vaccine before, not to worry, we’ve got you covered with some FAQ’s:
Quadri-whatsit?! What kind of flu shot is that?
The quadrivalent flu vaccine is designed to protect against four different flu viruses; two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses. For years, flu vaccines were designed to protect against three different flu viruses (trivalent); two A viruses and one B virus. Now, experts have finally been able to create a vaccine that protects against the second type of B virus, which means your employees will get much broader protection against circulating flu viruses.
Who can get the quadrivalent flu vaccine?
Different vaccines are approved for different age groups. The quadrivalent flu shots we are offering are approved for people 3 years of age and older. But there is even a quadrivalent flu shot that can be given to children as young as 6 months of age,
Who shouldn’t get the quadrivalent flu vaccine?
Different flu vaccines are approved for use in different groups of people. Factors that can determine a person’s suitability for vaccination, or vaccination with a particular vaccine, include a person’s age, health (current and past) and any allergies to flu vaccine or its components. Don’t worry, we’ll conduct a thorough screening of your employees to make sure we’re giving them the proper vaccine.
Is the quadrivalent flu vaccine safe?
Yes! Flu vaccines that protect against four flu viruses are made in the same way as the flu vaccines that protect agains three viruses, which have been around for years.
I heard you get sick every time you get a flu shot…
The quadrivalent vaccine cannot cause influenza illness, because the vaccine viruses used to make it are ‘inactivated’ (killed) or attenuated (weakened). You may experience some mild side effects, but trust us, they are way better than getting the flu! Check out “Can the flu vaccine give me the flu?” for more information about flu vaccine side effects.
Ok, I’m sold. How do I sign my employees up?
Just give us a call! We can schedule times to have your employees individually come into one of our three clinics, or we’ll even come to you and administer the vaccine right in your office.
